Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, continues to host virtual surgeries for Wealden constituents, to provide advice, help and representation.

In place of regular face to face surgeries, Nus has continued to hold virtual meetings with individuals and businesses throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Casework to cover crisis support and advice continues via email, letters, telephone calls and virtual meetings over video calls.

Last week, Nus and her team dealt with support for hospitality businesses, support for schools, increased traffic and dual carriageways, policing in Wealden and supporting local football clubs. Nus is in regular contact with Wealden District Council leaders and was pleased to learn that the Council has distributed over £38 million in grants to local businesses, and that applications for the next round of the Discretionary Grant are currently being considered.

Nus Ghani said: “I appreciate the severe impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on our everyday way of life in Wealden. I have received an overwhelming amount of correspondence from constituents asking for help and advice and I continue to deal with cases daily. To name just a few examples, we have supported local businesses with access to grants and loans, we are exploring ways to maximise their footfall now that they are reopen to customers, and we are working with schools to ensure they are prepared for September.”

“I look forward to meeting people face to face again, but until then, I am determined to keep access and lines of communication open to everyone. If you are a Wealden resident and require my assistance, please email me at [email protected].”

You have to go to them sometimes."
