Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, continues to host virtual surgeries for Wealden constituents, to listen to their concerns and provide advice, help and representation.

In place of regular face to face surgeries, Nus continues to hold virtual meetings with individuals and businesses across the constituency. Casework to cover crisis support and advice continues via email, letters, telephone calls and virtual meetings over video calls.

Last week, Nus has been dealing with support for schools, local football clubs, local businesses and care homes. She has virtually met with representatives from Wealden care homes to discuss testing of residents and staff, PPE levels and preparedness for winter. She has also dealt with support for schools, local football clubs and local businesses.

Nus has also met with the High Sherriff of East Sussex, Andrew Blackman, for the first time since his appointment in spring. The office of High Sheriff has its roots in Saxon times and is the oldest continuous secular office under the Crown. Nus and Andrew have discussed the successes and challenges in Wealden in light of Covid-19 and the incredible stories of our Wealden Heroes who have gone above and beyond throughout the pandemic.

Nus Ghani said: “I appreciate the severe impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on our everyday way of life in Wealden. I am inundated with correspondence from Wealden constituents and I continue to deal with cases daily. I look forward to meeting people face to face again, but until then, I am determined to keep virtual lines of communication open to everyone. If you are a Wealden resident and require my assistance, please email me at [email protected].”

When I was campaigning for your vote during the election, I promised that I would be accountable to you. When you did me the honour of electing me as Wealden's MP and it was time to give my maiden speech in the House of Commons, I pledged to follow the advice of Winnie the Pooh when he said that "You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes."
