On Thursday 10th October 2024, the House of Commons held a General Debate on sport and the performance of Team GB and ParalympicsGB in 2024.
Presiding over the proceedings, Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, Chairman of Ways and Means and Madam Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, put on record her thanks to Emily Craig, The Team GB athlete from Mark Cross near Crowborough who brought home from Paris 2024 a Gold Medal in the Ladies Lightweight Double Sculls category.
“I should put on record my thanks to Emily Craig who is a Gold Medallist from my constituency, who comes from Mark Cross, and Rotherfield recently put together a tea party for her. So if the Minister wants to hold a Gold Medal, definitely come to my constituency.”
Nusrat was pleased to recently join local communities at a celebration organised by Rotherfield Parish Council to mark Emily’s outstanding achievements, where she had the opportunity to personally thank her for putting Mark Cross on the map and bringing enormous pride and joy to local communities as well as the nation.
