Wealden MP Nus Ghani recently visited Holy Cross Church of England Primary School in Uckfield. Nus met with Holy Cross headmistress Cath Dart, as well as Sandi Bonniface, the chair of Governors, alongside Uckfield Town Councillor Paul Sparkes, Mayor Louise Eastwood and the Leader of Wealden District Council Bob Standley.
Holy Cross are rated as ‘Good’ in the Ofsted Inspection Ratings, and also plays host to the JHM Nursery, using three of the classrooms on the school site. Nus was shown round the school and the nursery, meeting many of the teachers and students who help create a high quality learning environment.
The school offers outstanding facilities from a pupil vegetable garden and a dedicated music room, to excellent outdoor sports and play areas.
Nus learnt about Holy Cross’ ‘Secrets of Successful People’ week coming up before the February half term, when Holy Cross are inviting alumni of the school to visit and inspire the children at the school today. Holy Cross are also undertaking a sponsored walk to support one of the teachers who is visiting their twin school in Kenya this Easter.
Commenting on her visit, Ms Ghani said: “I very much enjoyed visiting Holy Cross Primary School, meeting the wonderful staff and pupils who make up the school community.
“It was great to learn about their upcoming ‘Secrets of Successful People’ week. I know that many alumni from Holy Cross will gladly share their experiences and suggestions to encourage the students to aspire to reach their full potential, whatever they want to do in life.
“The wealth of teaching experiences across all subjects and the spacious school buildings offer pupils a great education, as well as a positive and engaging learning experience. We are lucky to have so many good schools across Wealden, and Holy Cross is one such gem.
“I would like to thank Cath Dart and Sandi Bonniface for their very kind hospitality, and look forward to supporting Holy Cross further in the future.”
