In March 2026, Nusrat Ghani, the Conservative MP for Sussex Weald, was named in The House Magazine’s "Women in Westminster: The 100" list.

This annual list recognizes 100 influential women—including parliamentarians, journalists, and civil servants—who have achieved excellence and driven significant change within the UK political landscape.

Upon receiving the recognition, Ms Ghani, who also serves as Madam Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Ways and Means, reflected on her historic milestones and working-class roots:-

"I hope that my journey will inspire women and girls from working class backgrounds like me to consider jobs they believed were out of reach for them."

Notable Achievements Mentioned:-

  • First MP for Sussex Weald: Representing the newly formed constituency since July 2024 (and formerly the first female MP for Wealden since 2015).
  • Historic Firsts: The first female Muslim Minister to speak at the House of Commons despatch box and the first woman of colour elected as Chairman of Ways and Means.
  • Consistent Recognition: This marks her fourth appearance on "The 100" list, having previously been selected in 2022, 2023, and 2025.

Ghani has often spoken about her upbringing in a council house and being the first girl in her family to go to school, using these experiences to champion social mobility and justice in Westminster.
