Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is encouraging all children in Wealden aged 4-14 to take part in a Royal Mail design competition to commemorate heroes of the pandemic.
Royal Mail has launched a competition to honour heroes who have done great things throughout the pandemic to help the country through this challenging period. This competition gives schoolchildren aged 4 to 14 years of age the opportunity to design one of eight special Royal Mail stamps to honour the heroes of the pandemic.
A special panel of judges will determine the eight winning designs which will be sent to Her Majesty The Queen for approval before they can be printed and issued.
The competition is now open and all entries must be submitted by 28 May. To sign up, visit www.royalmail.com/stampcompetition.
Nusrat Ghani said: “We have so many extraordinary Heroes in Wealden who have gone above and beyond and put their own lives at risk to help others. I had the pleasure of meeting some of them to express my gratitude in person and it would be wonderful if their invaluable contributions could be recognised and commemorated nationally. Our young designers may choose to illustrate NHS and social care staff, volunteers, teachers, supermarket workers, delivery drivers, perhaps even the scientists who created the vaccines or all those who work hard to deliver them and save lives. If in doubt, click here to find inspiration in the Wealden Heroes stories.”
