Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, has joined BBC Politics South East for a discussion on key issues that matter to communities across the South East. From looking back at five years on from the pandemic, the panel discussed the long-term impact of COVID on NHS staff and our society, rural crime and its impact on the livelihoods and mental health of local farmers, and the use of AI technology in the future and especially in dementia care, as per research at Sussex University.
Joining Nusrat on the panel were Tunbridge Wells MP Mike Martin and MP for Gravesend Dr Lauren Sullivan.
Nusrat Ghani said: "Rural crime is one of the major concerns in Sussex Weald and I have been working with local residents, community groups and Sussex Police for years on tackling and preventing rural crime. I raised the importance of Kent and Sussex Police forces working together to get to the bottom of the supply chain where things are being stolen to order and praised the work that our Sussex Police Rural Crime Team is already doing to improve response times and lack of visibility and secure arrests and convictions. I continue working with Sussex Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office to secure more resources for increased police patrol activity."
