Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the news from East Sussex County Council that funding for children attending Northease Manor School has been secured for the next three years.
East Sussex County Council have been in negotiations over the summer with Northease Manor, alongside Brighton and Hove and West Sussex councils, in relation to their request for a significant uplift to their fees from September 2023 onwards.
Northease Manor is a school located near Lewes, providing education for young people with Special Educational Needs. It supports children from the area as well as those from outside East Sussex. It is attended by many Wealden pupils and Nusrat has received a number of queries from local parents concerned about the matter.
Following her representations to East Sussex County Council, Nusrat was pleased that negotiations between the three local authorities and Northease Manor School reached an agreement, and the funding offer that has now been agreed will provide the school with the resources they need to sustain their provision and with financial stability for the next three academic years.
Nusrat Ghani said: “Following my representations to East Sussex County Council on behalf of many concerned Wealden parents, I was pleased to receive this positive news of support for the school. The agreed funding offer will provide the school with financial stability for the next three academic years and end uncertainty for Wealden pupils attending Northease Manor and their families."
