Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the Government’s investment of £2,360,000 to fix 47,200 potholes across East Sussex to improve road standards for drivers, saving them money on repairs, and making it easier to get to work and see family.

The Government is investing £200 million to fix four million potholes across England. This funding builds on the £2.7 billion of highways maintenance funding already committed between tax years 2022-25. The Fund will help local authorities fill in around 50 million potholes across the country to deliver quality service for drivers and stop potholes from forming in the first place.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I know that potholes are one of the biggest concerns locally and I am pleased that the Government is investing a further £2,360,000 to fix potholes across East Sussex, making journeys smoother and improving the safety of our roads. We have already seen significant improvements to some roads in the area in recent weeks and I welcome the action taken by the County Council to rectify the worst areas as soon as they are reported and identified."
