The Second phase of the Vaccination programme is well underway in Wealden.

The Meads Medical Centre, working in collaboration with other surgeries within the Greater Wealden Primary Care Network, have been administering the vaccines since mid-December, delivering the lifesaving jab to Wealden residents aged 50 and over (cohorts 1-9). To date, a fantastic 34,000 jabs have been delivered through the Greater Wealden Primary Care Network, which includes practices in Uckfield, Buxted, Herstmonceux, Heathfield and the Mid Downs Medical Practice.

This week, the second phase of vaccines (residents aged under 50) has successfully begun, with 300 people vaccinated during the first clinic.

Local leaders have been liaising closely with Charlotte Luck, the Meads Practice Manager, and has been the driving force behind ensuring that second phase could be seamlessly rolled out in Wealden and surgeries could continue to deliver the jab to residents aged under 50.

Local leaders have congratulated and met with Dr Emma Walbrook, Dr Kevin Ellis, and Dr Andrew Duckworth – GP Partners at the practice, as well as the nurses, volunteers, health care assistants and other key staff at Meads. Also big thanks to Peter Griggs, Chair of Meads Patient Participation Group and his wife Gabbi Paterson-Griggs who help organise the work of the volunteers who assist with car park organisation and signage.
