The Patel Family and Maresfield Village Store

I am delighted to announce that Mr&Mrs Patel and the Maresfield Village Store has been awarded the Wealden Hero Award this week.

Mr&Mrs Patel have been running the Maresfield Village Store for thirty years. Throughout the pandemic, the store has been kept open every day of the week to allow local residents to keep well stocked. The store also been offering home deliveries to the elderly and to those shielding. In 2017, the Maresfield Village Store was raided by an armed robber, demanding money from the till. When Mrs Patel refused, the robber engaged in a struggle. Mrs Patel eventually fled the store and sought help from a neighbour, who chased the robber and tackled him to the ground. Fortunately, thanks to the brave actions of Mrs Patel, no damage was done, and no one was hurt.

Many thanks and congratulations!

The Wealden Hero Awards are kindly supported by Uckfield FM, Kent and Sussex Courier, Sussex Express and Hailsham FM.
