Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, was delighted to champion Waldron-based multi-award-winning family business The English Soap Company in Downing Street, highlighting its strong presence in the community, environmental credentials, and huge demand for their products internationally.
The English Soap Company is a family business recognised by multiple prestigious regional and national awards, operating from the heart of Wealden countryside in Waldron. The company manufactures soap bars, hand creams, perfumes and other toiletries of the highest quality, with a strong focus on sustainability. All products are cruelty-free and hand finished, ensuring quality and care from start to finish. Over four million soap bars are produced every year and sold to more than 40 countries through major UK and international retailers, hotel and gift suppliers.
Nusrat has been working closely with the Managing Director Oliver Butts especially throughout the pandemic when the company kindly donated thousands of soap bars which Nusrat was proud to distribute to communities across Wealden including the midwife-led Crowborough Birthing Unit, local care homes, churches, foodbanks and other organisations that were in need of sanitising products.
Nusrat Ghani said: “The English Soap Company is an exceptional local family business. Their beautiful products inspired by the Sussex countryside are very popular across the UK and worldwide. They have been incredibly generous and donated thousands of their products to communities across Wealden throughout the pandemic, as well as to the MAYFACS Support Hub to support Ukrainian families arriving to Wealden. I was delighted to champion The English Soap Company in Downing Street and showcase our first-class Wealden-made products to the Prime Minister. I am proud that the company is going from strength to strength, harvesting prestigious awards recognising their expertise, and I wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.”
