Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the completion of the latest accessibility improvements to the Cuckoo Trail.
Twenty-nine barriers along the Cuckoo Trail have been redesigned between Polegate and Heathfield by walking and cycling charity Sustrans.
Additionally, nearly 300m2 of the path was resurfaced at Hellingly, further promoting route access, comfort, and accessibility for the thousands of homes and users in the area.
Sustrans is leading an England-wide programme, supported by the Department for Transport, to enhance the National Cycle Network and achieve its Paths for Everyone vision. The charity is delivering transformative projects across England to make walking, wheeling and cycling safer and more accessible for everyone.
Nusrat Ghani said: “The Cuckoo Trail is a fantastic outdoor asset and a great destination for a stroll or ride through our stunning countryside. I welcomed the news that Wealden was allocated over £11.5 million Government funding over the past two years to support various project across the district, including the regeneration of the Cuckoo Trail and I’m pleased that it is now also benefitting from improved access as part of this project."
