Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is inviting local residents to nominate Wealden businesses for The Countryside Alliance Awards, also known as the Rural Oscars.
The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate rural businesses that go the extra mile in supporting their local economy and communities to ensure that Britain’s food and farming industry can flourish. The Awards, which are now in their 17th year, are public-nomination-led, meaning that it’s down to the general public and loyal customers to nominate their favourite rural businesses for their contribution to the local area.
In the latest round of awards, two fantastic Wealden businesses have been shortlisted in the South East region Rural Enterprise category, with South Brockwells farm in Little Horsted being crowned winners.
The Awards cover five categories: village shop, butcher, pub, rural enterprise and local food. The nominations are open until 12 November and can be made online here.
Nusrat Ghani said: “Wealden farms are exceptional businesses and great assets to local communities. Their produce is second to none and these awards are an excellent way to promote them and demonstrate how much they are valued by our local communities. I am incredibly proud that we’ve had two local farms shortlisted and that South Brockwells farm were the South East Regional winners in the Rural Enterprise category this year. There are many outstanding farms in Wealden and I would like to encourage local residents to get involved and nominate their favourite business to give them a chance to put Wealden on the map again.”
