Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has met with Mark Pearson, the new Chief Executive Officer of Ashdown Forest, to discuss plans to ensure that the Forest continues to thrive for generations to come.
Mark Pearson joined in January 2024, and is responsible for directing the protection and conservation of Ashdown Forest. He leads a team to deliver the Forest’s management and will work closely with the Conservators to set the strategic direction for the Forest.
During their meeting, Nusrat and Mark discussed some of the key topics regarding Ashdown Forest, including environmental protections, animal expansions and deer management, and innovations for the coming year.
Nusrat was also pleased to see Ashdown Forest featured recently in BBC's Countryfile, where the presenters met with staff and volunteers who are deeply invested in maintaining this beautiful piece of local countryside. You can watch the episode back on BBC iPlayer here.
Nusrat Ghani said: “Ashdown Forest is the jewel of Wealden countryside, and it is my privilege to represent it in Parliament. Maintaining the Forest for its health and vibrancy is of critical importance, and I work closely with Ashdown Forest Conservators on the strategic direction to protect this beloved piece of Wealden. I look forward to working with the new Chief Executive Officer on this treasured area and helping it thrive.”
