One week on from the rally against the closure of Crowborough Birthing Unit, which saw over 200 local mum and residents come together, Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald continues to encourage people to join the fight and sign the petition.
Nusrat Ghani said: "It is absurd that the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust closed a best-in-class service, which is being requested by pregnant mums in the area. It is a dire situation, unacceptable for mums-to-be in Crowborough, Sussex Weald, and across the South East. If the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust thought that they can make such a decision quietly, they were wrong. They are denying mums the choice they deserve, and we will continue fighting until the Birthing Centre reopens.
I am grateful to everyone who joined the protest, especially mums and expectant mums who are directly impacted by the closure.
My petition already has nearly 3,500 signatures. Join the fight to save the Centre and sign the petition here: www.nusghani.org.uk/birthingcentre.”
