An MP has backed efforts to safeguard youth support services amid concerns over a nearby bank closure.

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, visited the Clued-Up centre in Crowborough, a charity offering free and confidential support to young people aged 11 to 25.

The visit followed news that the nearby Lloyds bank branch on The Broadway will close in June.

Ms Ghani said: "Clued-Up is a fantastic local asset, run by a dedicated team of youth workers offering free, confidential and non-judgemental advice and support to young adults in the area.

"In light of the upcoming closure of Lloyds bank, I was keen to make sure that the team are fully supported and that there won’t be any immediate operational issues for Clued-Up."

She emphasised the importance of the centre remaining open and accessible.

Ms Ghani said: "The Crowborough drop-in centre is a great resource and can be used as a safe space to spend time without a prior appointment, so if please do not hesitate to visit them if you need any kind of confidential support, or a safe space to spend time."

Clued-Up supports more than 900 young people each year from Crowborough and surrounding areas.

The charity provides a safe, welcoming environment where young people can access help and guidance or spend time with friends after school.

Experienced youth workers offer support on a range of issues including mental and physical wellbeing, sexual health and school challenges, and offer 1-2-1 appointments.
