Nus Ghani, Member of Parliament for Wealden, welcomed the winner of her 2016 Christmas card competition to Parliament last week.
Every student at every primary school in the constituency was invited to submit an entry to the competition, themed around Wealden and Christmas. Approximately 315 entries were received from schools all over the constituency, with designs ranging from a festive scene at Parliament to Winnie the Pooh and Santa’s reindeer.
The winner, 10-year-old Emma from Mark Cross C of E Primary School, was invited with her family to visit Parliament by Nus, as congratulations for her success. They went on a tour of the Palace of Westminster, and were then able to watch Prime Minister’s Questions from the gallery and have tea with Nus.
Nus commented: “I was delighted to welcome Emma and her family to Parliament following her success in the Christmas card competition. It was lovely to be able to show the whole family around, especially when Westminster is buzzing with the excitement of the upcoming election.
“I was so impressed with the quality and variety of the entries from Wealden’s students when I ran the competition, but Emma’s colourful design had stood out for me and I was thrilled with the final Christmas card produced. I hope she and her family enjoyed their visit to Parliament as much as I enjoyed hosting them here.”
