Last week, Nus Ghani and Cllr Pam Doodes opened Leap Close, the site of twelve new affordable homes in Hailsham.
All twelve homes have been allocated to local families via the Council’s choice based lettings system and are initially to be let on one year introductory tenancies.
The new homes offer a contemporary take on traditional design and feature zinc roofs echoing the site’s industrial past. Leap Close comprises twelve affordable homes made up of three one-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats, four two bedroom houses and two three bedroom houses.
The homes all feature private outside space and have been constructed using locally sourced materials and labour wherever possible.
Commenting on the visit, Ms Ghani said: “I am glad that these attractive, secure and sustainable affordable homes have been delivered for local families on time and within budget.
The importance of having keys to your own front door cannot be overestimated and I wish the families moving in to Leap Close all the best for life in their new homes.”
