Following the announcement of an extra £1.2 million for East Sussex County Council to fix potholes, Wealden MP Nus Ghani has written to Rupert Clubb, the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport at East Sussex County Council, to ensure that Wealden receive its fair share of pothole funding.

The £1.2 million for East Sussex County Council is part of the £100 million the Government recently made available for pothole repairs across the country. This is in addition to £75 million already committed to the Pothole Action Fund as well as a further £46 million made available just before Christmas.

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “The state of the roads in Wealden is one of the most pressing issues to my constituents and me.

“Potholes and roads in a poor state of repair cause untold issues for cars, vans, cyclists and lorries. They can cause serious damage to vehicles as well as becoming a safety risk for all road users.

“I am delighted to see that the Government has continued to commit to repairing potholes across the country.

“It is vital that East Sussex County Council ensures that the roads in Wealden receive the repairs they so desperately need, as they serve as major trunk roads not just for East Sussex but for the entire South East.”
