Twenty-seven pubs from across Wealden have been nominated by Wealden residents for Wealden MP Nus Ghani’s pub of the year competition.
Nus has been inviting Wealden residents to put forward their favourite local pub, with the winner being nominated for the Parliamentary Pub of the Year awards, a national award showcasing the finest pubs across the country.
After the competition reached thousands of Wealden people, with hundreds of votes, twenty-seven pubs have been nominated, with the winning pub to be announced next week. Pubs from all over Wealden have been nominated, including Crowborough, Hailsham and Uckfield.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “It’s wonderful to see so many pubs nominated by Wealden residents for my pub of the year competition.
“With twenty-seven pubs nominated, it’s a clear demonstration of our wonderful and diverse pub industry in Wealden, which I have always worked hard to support.
“Local pubs invest £2.5 million into the local economy each year and support almost 1,500 jobs. The Parliamentary Pub of the Year award goes some way to recognising the role pubs play in our communities and high streets, and I am looking forward to supporting the winner as the awards progress.”
