Wealden MP Nus Ghani joined the Royal British Legion for the Great War Walk, a community walk to mark the centenary of the Armstice, which marked the end of the First World War a hundred years ago.

The walk connected four of the war memorials in Wealden district: Cowden Holtye, Hartfield and Coleman’s Hatch, for a total walk of 7.5 miles long.

All the funds raised go directly to the Poppy Appeal, raising more than £600 in total.

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “Royal British Legion do important work honouring and remembering the people who gave so much so that we can walk freely today, and it was a pleasure to join them for this walk through the stunning Wealden countryside.

“I’d like to thank James Castle for his hard work in organising a very enjoyable walk, as well as the local churches we passed who kindly rang their bells to mark the occasion.

“Every year I work closely with the Royal British Legion in Wealden to commemorate the First World War, helping to raise money for the Poppy Appeal, an incredibly worthwhile cause.

“In the centenary year of the end of the First World War, I’d like to encourage everyone to buy and wear a poppy and donate as much as possible to the Poppy Appeal 2018.”
