Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden attended Transport for South East’s (TFSE) launch of its report “Transport Strategy for the South East”. The report sets out TFSE’s 30-year vision for transport in the South East where it sees the potential for the second-largest regional economy in the UK to double in size whilst providing new jobs and opportunities.
The launch has been organised by Huw Merriman, MP and Cllr Keith Glazier representing East Sussex County Council. George Freeman MP, Minister for the future of transport delivered a keynote speech highlighting the importance of providing incentives to develop a sustainable and green transport strategy in the South East.
Nus works closely with Cllr Keith Glazier, the chair of TFSE to ensure that Wealden remains central to the ambition and vision for better infrastructure across the South East. In his remarks, Cllr Glazier emphasised the potential for the South East to decarbonise its transport links, for better rail, road, port and aviation links.

“Transport has long been underestimated in how it is the solution for tackling key issues from loneliness, access to education and employment. Transport is the key to productivity and as the South East continues to grow, we should recognise that it should be given the appropriate infrastructure funding for its roads, its railways, its aviation infrastructure, and its ports.”
