Tess Flower and the Village Shop in Upper Dicker
Hawaiian Theme

I am delighted to announce that Tess Flower and the Upper Dicker Village Shop has been awarded the Wealden Hero Award this week.

The Upper Dicker village shop is famous for its Big Dicker breakfast and home-made baked goods. It is frequently visited by locals as well as students and staff of local Bede’s School. Despite the loss of income due to lockdown and the temporary closure of the school, the Upper Dicker Village Shop has remained opened and has been the heart and soul of the community.

Assisted by the staff, Tess has organised home deliveries of groceries to support the elderly and vulnerable, and stocked the shop with local produce to keep the village supplied throughout the pandemic. To brighten the day of fellow Upper Dicker residents, the team dressed up on Fridays and surprised their customers with various themes such as 20s, 60s and 80s fashion and the locals’ favourite - Hawaiian theme!

Many thanks and congratulations to Tess!

The Wealden Hero Awards are kindly supported by Uckfield FM, Kent and Sussex Courier, Sussex Express and Hailsham FM.
