Covid Vaccines

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the news that through the Vaccines Delivery Plan, 125,364 doses have already been administered in Sussex and East Surrey Health and Care Partnership.

As of 17 January 2021, 125,364 vaccinations have been administered already in Sussex and East Surrey Health and Care Partnership, as part of plans to vaccinate the top four priority groups by mid-February. In the South Easy, 587,282 people have received a vaccine, with 660,633 doses administered in total across the area.

The United Kingdom is leading the way with its vaccination programme. So far, more than 5 million vaccinations have been administered to 4.6 million people.

The Government’s Vaccines Delivery Plan sets out how it aims to administer millions doses of vaccines by the end of January, as well as offering vaccines to every elderly are home resident by the end of the month. So far, more than half of those over 80s and care home residents have received a vaccine.

On top of this, the Government is opening up new vaccination sites every day as part of the Vaccine Delivery Plan to ensure everyone is within 10 miles of a vaccination centre. 65 pharmacy sites across England are starting to deliver vaccines from this week, including the first in East Sussex - Ticehurst pharmacy, which will be managing the vaccine centre from Ticehurst Village Hall.

Nus Ghani said: “The Covid vaccination programme is the biggest in our country’s history. I am pleased that so many people across Wealden and East Sussex have received the vaccine already and with vaccination sites now available in Uckfield, Crowborough and Hailsham, as well as our nearest hospitals, more Wealden residents will be invited for the jab in the coming days. Vaccines are the best way out of the pandemic, and I will continue working with the Department of Health and our local health authorities to ensure the rollout will cover every corner of Wealden.”
