Uckfield

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has been updated on changes to train services running between Uckfield and London Bridge.

With passenger numbers down to around 15% of pre-Covid weekday levels, Govia Thameslink Railway will be implementing a new, reduced timetable from Monday 22 February.

Unfortunately, there will be significant change to the Uckfield line.

The current service to London Bridge will continue to run at an hourly frequency during busy times and half-hourly between 07:19 and 08:19 (at Oxted) to coincide with the start of Oxted school.

However, at periods throughout the day when trains are quieter, the service will be reduced to every two hours in the following periods:

Uckfield to London Bridge: 10:30-16:30

London Bridge to Uckfield: 09:07-15:07 and 21:07-23:07

Govia Thameslink Railway have given assurances to reinstate an all-day hourly service in the next timetable change in May 2021.

Nus Ghani said: “The Uckfield line already suffers from frequent cancellation and I am disappointed to hear that the services to Uckfield have been reduced even further. I am aware that the lack of alternative transport causes untold problems for many Wealden commuters. If you find the change difficult, please do get in touch with Govia Thameslink Railway and share your concerns with them. I will continue to monitor service provision on this line closely and work to ensure that Govia Thameslink Railway restores a service fit for the needs of Wealden as soon as possible.”
