Work is to begin shortly on progressing the architects’ brief for a new combined community hall and health centre for Mayfield and Five Ashes in East Sussex.
Wealden MP Nus Ghani said, “I am pleased that plans are in motion for Mayfield’s new medical facilities and opportunities for fitness and social activities. The redevelopment will bring enormous benefits to communities in Mayfield and Five Ashes and will enhance their wellbeing and resilience as we recover from the pandemic.”
Mayfield and Five Ashes Parish Council and Wealden District Council are working in partnership to carry out redevelopments of the memorial hall site at Court Meadow.
A new state of the art Community and Health Centre is planned, to provide opportunities for fitness and social activities, as well as medical facilities. Wealden District Council is supporting local GPs through the development of the new surgery, while Mayfield and Five Ashes Parish Council is responsible for the new community hall.
If development work goes smoothly, the new Community and Health Centre is expected to be completed in 2023. The new facilities will assist local health professionals in enhancing local health care by prescribing a range of physical and social activities designed to improved patients’ health and wellbeing.
Nus said, " I would like to thank Councillor Gill Weavers, the Chair of Mayfield and Five Ashes Parish Council, Cllr Bob Standley, the Leader of Wealden District Council, Cllr Brian Redman, Trevor Scott, Cllr Chris Lilly, and all their colleagues involved in this project for their continuous efforts and dedication.
