A Sussex MP is set to swap her seat in the House of Commons for a role as (quiz) master of the seven seas.
Wealden MP Nus Ghani will host a sea shanty-themed quiz tomorrow to raise money for Seafarers UK.
The charity has helped people in the maritime community for more than 100 years by providing vital support to seafarers in need and their families.
Ms Ghani said: "Fancy a sea shanty? All landlubbers are invited to Seafarers UK charity maritime quiz this Thursday.
"Pull up a chair, pour a drink and join in to test your maritime knowledge and support this fantastic charity fundraiser.
"It is vital that we support our seafarers, especially during this unprecedented time.
"I know that many Wealden residents have family members or are themselves seafarers and I hope that together we can do our bit to support all those at sea delivering our essentials."
Ms Ghani recently joined Seafarers UK as a trustee, and is keen to support the organisations efforts to provide better mental health provisions for those who work at sea.
The Conservative MP, who has campaigned for seafarers to be granted key worker status during the pandemic, highlighted the work they do in "stocking our supermarket shelves" while working "in some of the world’s toughest conditions to satisfy global demand".
The online quiz will be held at 6pm tomorrow. Anyone wanting to take part can register HERE.
The prize for first place is a one day sailing trip along the River Thames, including a champagne lunch and a planned sail under an opened up Tower Bridge for up to four people.
Meanwhile the runner-up will win dinner at a Michelin star Westminster restaurant with Ms Ghani.
