Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is supporting this year’s Recycle Week and encourages Wealden residents to increase their recycling efforts.
The National Recycle Week is taking place this week (Monday 20 September - Saturday 26 September). Latest research from Recycle Now reveals that almost nine out of ten people now recycle. However, 55% of households put various items that can be recycled, such as shampoo bottles, cleaning bottles and foil in the general rubbish bin. The aim of this year’s campaign is to encourage people to improve their recycling habits and recycle better.
Top tips and a full list of what can and cannot go in the recycling bin in Wealden can be found on Wealden District Council website here.
Nusrat Ghani said: "Looking after our environment is one of the most important issues in Wealden. I have been campaigning against the closures of some of Wealden’s recycling centres as they play a key role in ensuring that Wealden residents do their bit to protect the environment. I’m pleased that the data for 2020/21 in Wealden shows that the percentage of dry recycling material collected in the district has increased and I’d like to thank all Wealden residents who dispose of their waste safely and considerately.”
