Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is supporting the Queen’s Green Canopy campaign

The campaign which will see new trees planted all over the country to celebrate the Queen’s upcoming Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique network of forest conservation projects to thank The Queen for her exceptional service, celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and to promote the importance of trees to the environment. Individuals, communities, charities, schools, councils, and landowners will be planting trees across the UK to create a lasting legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership.

The Queen has herself planted more than 1,500 trees around the world during her reign, and therefore this is a fitting tribute to Her Majesty’s years of service. Participants can register and upload the details of their planting on a map together with photographs.

Nusrat Ghani said: “This is an excellent way to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s exceptional service and a positive opportunity to engage communities across the country in contributing to making our environments greener. Taking part in the project is as easy as planting a tree in your own garden and I greatly encourage Wealden residents, schools and individuals with land available to take part.”
