Nusrat Ghani has welcomed the news that St Bartholomew’s church in Maresfield will receive a grant towards vital maintenance works to expand its facilities.
St Bartholomew’s church in Maresfield is to receive a £5,000 grant from the National Churches Trust. The funding will support the installation of a kitchen and toilet facilities, which will offer the church the opportunity of launching a series of community inspired projects and activities. A total of 47 churches and chapels across the United Kingdom will benefit from the latest round of grants from the National Churches Trust totalling £473,700.
Full planning approval has been secured and once these facilities are built, the church can host a variety of classes, workshops and other events for the benefit of local communities. Although some funding has already been raised and a grant has been secured from the Parish Council, further support is still needed. Members of the public can also help the cause by sponsoring a brick for £10 or half a brick for £5 and help preserve this fantastic heritage site.
Nusrat Ghani said: “St Bartholomew’s has been serving Maresfield communities for over 1,000 years and I am pleased that this much needed grant will help secure the necessary upgrades to its facilities. I regularly attend the Remembrance Service at St Bartholomew’s church and I hope that these fantastic improvements will and enable Maresfield communities to take full advantage of its premises and ensure that the church remains a vibrant meeting place.”
