Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden has met with Headway Sussex Trustee and Wealden resident Michele Fleming, to learn more about the charity’s work in East Sussex.
Every 90 seconds someone is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury. Many of these people will require a form of neurorehabilitation and for some, this will be a lifelong need. Affiliated to Headway UK, Headway Sussex is a local charity that works to improve life after brain injury and provides a wide range of services including rehabilitation programmes, carer support, social re-integration, community outreach and respite care to survivors and families in their own communities.
The nearest support group for Wealden residents is currently based in Newick near Uckfield, but Headway Sussex is looking into expanding their services to reach more people across the county to ensure that everyone with a brain injury living in Sussex receives timely, compassionate, and individual support and access to counselling services and hospital liaison services.
