BigBang Fair

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has attended the Big Bang Parliamentary Fair, which aims to inspire the next generation of engineers, technologists and scientists.

The Big Bang programme, run by EngineeringUK, seeks to inspire young people to consider the possibilities in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) via the Big Bang Competition.

Co-hosted by EngineeringUK and the Parliamentary Scientific Committee, Big Bang at Parliament is a fun and interactive event, bringing together some of the participants in the Big Bang Competition, young people aged 11-19 who have completed STEM projects on a range of topics from climate change to digital technology and gives politicians, policy-makers and businesses the chance to meet award-winning young scientists and engineers.

Nusrat Ghani said: “The Big Bang is a great project which helps to inspire young people into STEM careers and grows the talent pool that is desperately needed to deliver Net Zero ambitions. It is vital that we get more young people with the right skills into the field if we are to continue to lead the world on great engineering projects in future. I would like to encourage more young people, and especially girls, to take advantage of the exciting and rewarding opportunities engineering has to offer.”
