Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the announcement that East Sussex County Council will receive £41.4 million to implement its Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

East Sussex County Council has been confirmed to receive funding to improve local bus services through the Government’s £1.2 billion bus transformation programme. The £41,415,025 will deliver vital improvements to bus networks across Wealden and East Sussex including infrastructure, fixed route and timetabled services and flexible services with improved frequencies, later evening services and improved weekend services, fare reductions and bus stop improvements including the provision of high-quality interchanges, more and improved bus shelters and more real time information at stops.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I am pleased that East Sussex County Council is receiving this funding allocation to transform local bus infrastructure and increase the use of public transport in the area. Bus services are a vital mean of transport for many Wealden residents and this investment will help connect communities in East Sussex and deliver better, more reliable and more frequent services across the region.”
