Ghani visits local team brewing a success story
Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, was pleased to have been invited to meet the team at Three Acre Brewery and catch up on their growing business.
Three Acre Brewery is an award-winning craft brewery based in Blackboys, East Sussex, founded by Chester, Jamie and Peter in 2019. Nusrat has long-been a champion of local businesses, previously securing Three Acre Brewery a place at Stranger’s Bar in Parliament, as well as welcoming the team to Westminster in December 2023 to celebrate their first serving of the Sussex Weald-made Session Pale.
The team at Three Acre Brewery were also recently awarded Gold in their category for Best Beer in the South East, as well as being crowned Overall Champion for their “dark, rich and warming” Bonfire Beer.
Nusrat said: “three local lads had an idea which is now a recognised name in the industry and winning awards for their hard work. When I last visited they were brewing 600 pints per month from their barn near Blackboys, East Sussex. Their business is now supplying towns and villages across the South East and they now produce 47,000 pints per month and have plans to open taprooms in two nearby towns.
It is small businesses like theirs that keep our local economy afloat, with a local workforce and a strong retail presence in many of our local independent village pubs. We all know the impact that recent tax changes have had on small businesses. I continue to call on the Government to celebrate these local success stories, not tax them out of existence.
It is a joy to see how well they have done in such a highly competitive market. What started out as a homebrew project is attracting attention in new markets beyond the South East, with orders being received from as far away as Sweden. They are part of a growing and very successful group of small and independent businesses across my constituency and I will continue to champion the work they do and the important contribution they may to our local economy.”
