Conservative councillors were joined by Wealden's MP, Nusrat Ghani, on a fact-finding visit to Age We Care Horam Day Club.
Wealden District Councillors for Horam & Punnetts Town, Susan Stedman and Bob Bowdler, met club members, volunteers and staff and to learn more about the work they do in Wealden.
Age We Care Horam Day Club offers a day of fun, laughter, entertainment and companionship for older people living in Horam and the surrounding area.
The Club is fully inclusive as many of the clients have physical challenges, and some have varying levels of dementia. The Club offers activities such as games, quizzes, gentle exercise, music and craft, as well as information and support.
Nusrat Ghani said: “It was a pleasure to visit Horam and meet the fantastic volunteers who help run the Day Club.
"I’m aware of how difficult the pandemic and periods of lockdown have been for our elderly residents and their carers. The Day Club provides a fantastic opportunity for older residents to meet other people, make new friends and have fun in a safe and happy environment. They are always looking for volunteers to help, as well as people who would benefit from coming to the club, so please do get in touch with them if you are interested in joining.”
Age We Care Horam Day Club is open on Tuesdays and Fridays between 10am and 3pm at Christ Church hall in Horam. Please contact Maureen on 07710 143198 to find out more.
