For Immediate Release:
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, is proud to support The 2019 Festival of Wine, taking place at Hidden Spring Vineyard in Horam on Saturday June 1st.
The event, to mark the launch of The Vineyards of the Sussex Weald, an association of vineyards local to East Sussex, features a tasting of 10 different wines from Beacon Down, Fox&Fox, Hidden Spring, Off the Line and Tickeridge vineyards, as well as woodfired pizza, ice-cream and live music.
Music will be provided by Charlie Moss, recently featured on BBC Introducing, and DJs.
Nus has worked closely with local vineyards since her election as an MP, including successfully campaigning for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Department for International Trade, to use English Wines to “oil the wheels of Brexit negotiations”, as well as to showcase the extraordinary success of this sector.
Nus has also advocated for keeping the duty on UK Wines, Spirits, and other beverages low, as so to support this sector in competing with foreign imports.
Wealden’s Vineyards are a significant local employer, and generate further jobs in the community through the tourist trade, as people come from all over the world for the excellent wine and hospitality offered by the producers.
Tickets for the event are £10, and cover the cost of sampling 10 different wines. They are available on the Eventbrite platform: search ‘Sussex Weald Festival of Wine’.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said:
“I am enormously proud that Wealden is the home of some of the very best vineyards in the UK.
“This event is a fantastic way to shine a light on the amazing wines that can be found on our doorstep, and a great way to spend a Saturday with family and friends.
“Our local vineyards work incredibly hard all year round to produce a product that matches the very best from across the world, and they have a crucial place in our community as major local employers.
“I have worked closely with the members of the new Vineyards of the Sussex Weald association, and with Jonica Fox of Fox&Fox in particular, and I look forward to continuing to support this Sussex success story in any way that I can.”
Jonica Fox, of Fox&Fox Vineyards, said:
“Wealden is right at the forefront of the surge in English wine production.
“This weekend is all about its leading boutique producers joining together to showcase the diversity and world-class quality of our still and sparkling wines.
“We are working to deliver a brilliantly fun day, focussed on showing just how delicious our wines are!”
