Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, officially unveiled a new show-home at Waters Reach, a development of new homes in Wadhurst by Rydon Homes.
After cutting the ribbon, Nus was given a preview of the show-home, ahead of its opening to the public. This is the second show home opened at Waters Reach following the successful sale of the first phase of housing.
The houses, as new-builds, are eligible for the government’s revolutionary ‘Help-to-Buy’ programme, which provides first-time buyers with a loan of up to 20% of the value of a home, meaning that young people need only provide a 5% deposit on a property.
Furthermore, 12 of the homes are reserved for affordable renting or shared ownership and have been offered to qualifying local families.
All of the new homes have been individually designed to blend in with the local architecture, and have been constructed using traditional materials, as well as providing charging points for electric vehicles.
Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, said:
“These homes will make a wonderful addition to Wadhurst.
“With 12 of the homes going to local residents who qualify for affordable housing, as well as all being built with traditional methods, it is clear that these houses put the community at the heart of this new development.
“I was delighted to see electric charge points for cars, and the other ways in which this development is being made environmentally friendly. These houses are good for Wadhurst, good for the people who live there, and the environment we all love. I look forward to visiting again on their completion.”
