Nusrat Ghani, the Member of Parliament for Sussex Weald, recently visited Seaforth Farm Surgery in Hailsham to meet its new primary care management team

The ministerial visit follows a major transition of services aimed at securing stable, long-term healthcare for more than 11,000 local patients.

Key Details of the Service Transition

  • The New Operator: Management has been officially transferred to Manor Park Surgery in Polegate, which operates under the broader Vita Healthcare group.
  • The Reason for Change: The Care Quality Commission (CQC) cancelled the registration of the previous operator, Hailsham Medical Group Practice, due to serious, systemic governance failures and safety concerns.
  • Patient Impact: NHS Sussex has confirmed that all patient records were transferred automatically. Affected residents do not need to take any action or re-register, and services continue to run out of the existing Seaforth Farm and Vicarage Field premises.

Insights from the MP's Visit

During her meeting with GP partners and medical practitioners, MP Nusrat Ghani evaluated how the operational handover was progressing and discussed the broader pressures currently facing rural healthcare systems.

The MP praised the workforce for maintaining unbroken patient access throughout the transition while simultaneously managing a strict rise in regional care demands.

The Vita Healthcare group now oversees the care of more than 50,000 total patients across the East Sussex region.
