As part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund, Hailsham Pavilion is to receive a grant to ensure it can operate safely and viably under Covid-secure conditions.
The £30 million fund is provided for independent cinemas. In the first tranche of awards, 43 independent cinemas across England will benefit from funding totalling over £650,000.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the announcement, she commented: “Nothing can beat watching something for the first time in a cinema. Wealden’s small independent cinemas are great hubs for our local communities and I am aware of the challenges they have faced over the last few months. Hailsham is a fantastic town and it always strives to support local businesses and the high street. Hailsham Pavilion Cinema has a longstanding history in the community, and I am delighted that it is a successful recipient of the funding and has now reopened its doors to customers.”
This important cash boost will help independent cinemas across the country weather the storm of the coronavirus pandemic. Cinemas are able to apply for Safety Grants of up to £10,000, to help independent venues meet the additional costs of creating a safe and Covid-secure environment for staff and audiences.
A spokesperson from Hailsham Pavilion said: “We are so glad to welcome back our lovely customers. We have gotten some great feedback about our response to Covid-19 and the procedures we have put in place to keep everyone safe.”
Films are now being shown on a daily basis and tickets can be booked at hailshampavilion.co.uk.
