Today (Wednesday 13 May) is the Kingโs Speech 
and the State Opening of Parliament

The Kingโs speech signifies the beginning of a new Parliamentary year, where the Government set out their programme of legislation which they hope to enact over the coming Parliamentary session.
๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป๐
The King will visit Parliament just before midday. He will arrive at Sovereignโs entrance and will then make his way to the House of Lords.
Blackrod will then summon MPs to the Lords, a tradition dating back centuries and signifies the independence which the Commons has over the Monarchy.
The King will then read out the Governmentโs programme of work, what they hope to deliver in the coming months and years.

Once the speech is over the King will then return to Buckingham Palace. MPs will debate the speech in the Commons. This could last several days and I will be in the Chair at various points throughout.

I am incredibly proud that Sussex Weald will have two representatives at the speech today. As Chairman of Ways and Means I will be in attendance alongside the His Majesty the Kingโs pageboy who is a local resident.
