Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, has joined Sussex Police Officers for a foot patrol on the Cuckoo Trail and around Hailsham town centre.

While out and about with Inspector Botley from Wealden Neighbourhood Policing Team, Nusrat spoke to local residents and discussed ongoing and upcoming campaigns in Hailsham and across Sussex Weald as well as current concerns and what more can be done to continue keeping residents safe.

Nusrat was pleased to learn about the ongoing community engagement campaigns as well as the work that Sussex Police and the Wealden Neighbourhood Policing Team are doing with local schools and community organisations to educate children about personal safety, fire safety, road safety and first aid.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I was pleased to join Sussex Police for a foot patrol in and around Hailsham and I’m grateful to Inspector Botley and our PCSOs for ensuring they have a visible presence in Hailsham and across Sussex Weald and for all the fantastic work they continue to do to keep our communities safe. I’d like to encourage local residents not to hesitate to approach to Sussex Police Officers when they’re out on patrol, whether it be to report a problem, to seek advice or just to have a chat. We are extremely lucky that Sussex Weald continues to be a safe place to live with consistently low levels of crime, but I’m aware that rural crime incidents especially remain an area of concern, and I continue to be in regular contact with Sussex Police, our District Commander and Inspector Botley to raise individual cases of constituents, farmers, and local businesses who have reached out to me regarding this matter.”
