Nus Ghani was there to learn about the fantastic work the team do
They provide high-quality specialist services for people with learning disabilities, and to discuss issues currently impacting the social care sector.
St Anthony is part of Avens group residential care homes and has been caring for people since 1994. It provides personal care and support for adults with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviour. St Anthony is registered to provide care for up to 29 residents aged 18-65, and has become one of the South East’s best-known centres for adults with learning disabilities.
Nusrat was pleased to meet with Chris Andrews, CEO of Avens Limited to discuss the impact of the increase in minimum wage for care workers and wider issues currently impacting the social care sector, such as the difficulty in recruiting and retaining care staff.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I was pleased to visit St Anthony and see the excellent work the team do providing high-quality specialist services for people with learning disabilities. I recognise the extraordinary commitment and compassion of social care staff and I continue working with East Sussex County Council and Wealden District Council to ensure that Government funding for social care is distributed effectively to our local care home staff. I would like to thank everyone at St Anthony for providing an invaluable community resource, and a safe home for life for adults with learning disabilities in Wealden.”
