Young Enterprise is a leading enterprise education charity that works with schools to introduce students to the world of business, finance and enterprise.

Nus Ghani, the MP for Wealden, recently met with volunteers from the Wealden branch of Young Enterprise to learn more about the scheme. Also in attendance was Cllr Rupert Simmons, Lead Member for Economy on East Sussex County Council.

By working with teachers, the Young Enterprise programme strengthens eight key skills, including communication, confidence, financial capability, initiative, organisation, problem-solving, teamwork and resilience.

The scheme has different programmes tailored to primary schools, secondary schools and university level. Students can take advantage of programmes such as the ‘Company Programme’, which enables secondary school students to set up and run a student company for a year, gaining valuable experience of the world of business.

The Eastbourne and Wealden branch of Young Enterprise works with schools all across the constituency.

Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “Local business is the backbone of our local economy, and I have long worked with local businesses to help them grow and prosper.

“I am delighted to support Young Enterprise as it opens the world of business to the next generation of business leaders, utilising the enthusiasm of students across Wealden.

“Encouraging more students, especially women, into the world of business is vital to keep ideas and innovation fresh and allowing our local businesses to prosper even more.”
