Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has revealed the results of her 2023 Christmas card competition and visited three Wealden schools to congratulate the winner and runners up.
In October, Nusrat was pleased to launch her Christmas card competition and invite all pupils at Wealden primary schools to take part and submit a design, following the theme Winter Wildlife in Wealden. Entries were received from primary schools all over the constituency and the winner has now been revealed.
Nusrat is delighted to announce that the winner of this year’s competition is Honey (Year 3) from Hawkes Farm Academy in Hailsham (pictured above), whose colourful picture of a robin is the perfect depiction of winter and Christmas time in Wealden. The runners up are Aggie (Year 5) from Rotherfield Primary School and Jack (Year 1) from Ashdown Primary School in Crowborough.
All three designs are featured on Nusrat’s Christmas card which is being delivered to hundreds of residents, businesses, and charities in Wealden and nationwide, as well as to the British Prime Minister, Members of Parliament and King Charles III.
Nusrat Ghani said: “The Christmas competition has been a highlight of my seasonal activities since its first launch in 2015 and I am always impressed by the creativity of the entries. Choosing the winner is always incredibly difficult as I receive hundreds of outstanding creations from our talented young artists, but this year it was Honey, Aggie and Jack’s artwork that stood out for me as best representing winter in Wealden. A huge thank you to all pupils who have submitted an entry and to their parents and teachers who helped them take part. The card will now make its way far and wide across the nation and overseas, and I hope that it will bring all recipients joy and Christmas cheer.”
