Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has met with representatives from the National Farmers' Union (NFU) at the Conservative party Conference in Birmingham to discuss some of the key issues impacting farmers today, highlight how British farmers are leading the way producing climate-friendly food for the home and overseas market and to promote Wealden farmers.
The NFU represents more than 46,000 farming and growing businesses. Its purpose is to champion British agriculture and horticulture, to campaign for a stable and sustainable future for British farmers and to secure the best possible deal for its members.
Nusrat has been working closely with the NFU and has previously hosted local visits to showcase the hard work of Wealden farmers.
Nusrat Ghani said: "It was a pleasure to meet with the NFU. Our farmers are the lifeblood of rural life, and they are doing a tremendous work in managing local environment and helping our communities to better understand agriculture, where our food comes from and about the security of our food chain. I’m proud that we have a thriving and dynamic rural economy in Wealden, and I will always work to support our local farmers."
