Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, was pleased to visit Cross In Hand CofE primary school to speak to Year 2 students about her role as the local MP, ahead of their careers day.
As part of the school’s careers day for its Year 2 children, parents and members of the local community were invited into school to talk about their jobs. This supports the pupil’s learning on dreams and goals and learning about inspirational women.
Nusrat was delighted to visit the school and take part in the careers day series, allowing the pupils to quiz her on why she wanted to become an MP, how MP elections work and how they compare to those of electing school councillors, and what the job of an MP involves.
Nusrat Ghani said: “It is always encouraging to see our young residents engaging with our democracy and the world around them. I was pleased to visit Cross In Hand primary school to speak to the Year 2 students about my job as the local MP and to hear more about what they would like to do in the future. There were some very insightful questions from the floor and I very much enjoyed the school councillors telling me all about their ideas for the school.”
