Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, was pleased to deliver a virtual speech at an inter-schools debate morning for Year 5 students, hosted by Bede's Senior School.
Bede's Senior school recently started the Wealden Partnership, which is a project aiming to bring together primary and secondary schools in the Wealden area and build closer relationships between them. To celebrate national schools partnership week the school hosted a joint debating competition on Friday 27th January, which also included speakers from Uckfield Community College, Hailsham Community College, Mayfield School and St Catherine's College Eastbourne.
The debates explored whether the UK should remove their foreign aid whether the consumption of meat should be banned.
Nusrat joined the event virtually to wish all participants best of luck and kickstart the day.
Nusrat Ghani said: "I was pleased to join Bede’s Senior school to speak to the fantastic speakers from all across Wealden about the importance of a healthy debate. It was encouraging to see so many young people engaged in current issues and campaigning on their beliefs so passionately.
