Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has visited the new M&S store near Uckfield to celebrate its recent opening.
A new Marks and Spencer food hall based at the Ashdown Business Park near in Uckfield opened earlier this month. The store is one of twenty new branches set to open in the next year and its introduction to Uckfield created over 80 new full- and part-time job opportunities for people in the local area.
The food hall includes a dedicated grocery section, bakery, wine shop and a digital Click and Collect point, and has a generous car park on site. The opening hours are Monday-Saturday from 8am to 8pm, and on Sundays from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I was delighted to visit the new M&S store to meet the staff and see the all the new facilities available. I supported and attended the public consultation when the plans were first introduced and I’m pleased that we now have this great addition to local retail opportunities officially open, saving local residents lengthy travel to neighbouring towns. The store is a fantastic boost to Uckfield’s economy, providing much needed full- and part-time positions for over 80 local people and it was great to see it bustling with customers. I was also pleased to see that the food hall is located entirely on the ground floor, which makes it fully accessible for all Wealden residents and visitors alike.”
