Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has visited Hellingly Primary School to discuss issues regarding traffic and parking.
Hellingly School is an inclusive school for boys and girls aged 5-11, serving the communities of Hellingly and the surrounding area. The school is located at the end of a narrow country road leading to the village. The traffic congestion outside the school, coupled with increased use of the road by heavy goods vehicles, is particularly worrying at drop off and collection times, posing a serious danger to pupils.
Nusrat was contacted by the school leadership about the matter and visited the site to gain a deeper understanding about the problem.
Nusrat Ghani said: “Hellingly Primary is a fantastic school that has been serving local communities for a long time. I appreciate the traffic issues they are facing, and I will support them in getting this situation resolved or at the very least improved. I have made urgent representations to the Director of East Sussex County Council Highways department, and I hope that measures can be introduced to provide safe and better access to the school and prevent a tragedy from occurring.”
